Arrived after a 1 night stop in Bangladesh (which was fairly similar to Calcutta). The staff at the stop in Bangladesh were very friendly and helpful - one of the workers tok us round the town and then to his house for a drink!
Stayed in Thamel after a tout managed to convince us that you have to pay to enter Freak street (not true). Nice part of the city with old narrow cobbled roads that went up and down. Many rickshaws.
Good shop - Manakmana (Paryatan, Marg, Thamel) - Located beside K-Too Restaurant. They have very good Northface Waterproof jackets - the best I found in the area after hours of searching (2700RS / about 25 quid).
After leaving Kathmandu for Pokhara, I went past numerous over turned crashed buses (see pics below) The driver of my bus, like the other drivers over here also hadn't grasped the concept of slowing down at a corner or narrow parts of the road whcih made for a rather interesting ride!
ALSO - Check out the prices on the menus below (keeping in mind that 1 pound = 122RS)
