The gateway to the Annapunas. Caught an early bus, had a chance to see some local villages on the way. There were people ploughing a field with just 2buffalos. Very poor. Arrived eight hours later expecting to see mountains but saw none. It was noonsoon season with clouds everyday - was the same for the next 5 days. Nice small town by the lakeside.
Food - Eveest Steak House (very tasty huge slabs of meat). The owner sorts you out a monster steak if you finished a trek!
Shops - copied Northface gear everywhere - Thin Fleece (200RS), Wind Stopper (800RS), Thick Fleece (500RS) , Waterproof Trousers (500RS)
Good shop - funky boss ( Lakeside 6)

Absolutley amazing room for only 2 pounds. More like a nice guest house / hotel than a backpackers place.

07/06/05 - Peace Pagoda Trek - 20Km
Suppose to be a warm up trek for the circuit but was much tougher than expected. Got a huge headache half way through and neck pains as well. Got lost. Played Carrams with kids in the village, was very cool. Played football/vollyball with sock ball with some other kids. Amazing views of the lake and Pokkara. Was wasted aftewards and ill.
